Great if it didn’t stop working
Worked great for a few days, then stopped working. Couldn’t turn it on unless it was plugged in, and battery wouldn’t take a charge.

Great while it lasted.
Got this in late January and it stopped palying sound in May. Still lights up and charges iPods, but no sound. While it worked, the sound was very good for the size.

Good but flawed.
In general Altec makes good portable audio. The Max has some great features, but since I also have an InMotion im9 the max also disappointed me in some ways.

Excellent sound

Small footprint, good sound
Nice sound for what it is, a small desktop radio / iPod / iPhone player.
You can get decent volume without distortion.
